The Beginning of Lady Owls Soccer
In 1999, the Bradford Community Soccer Club formed a committee to explore the feasibility of starting a girls varsity soccer program at the Bradford Area High School. The committee, headed by Scott Cavagnaro (soccer parent and BCSC board member) questioned female soccer athletes from the Club travel and recreation league programs to determine interest, did extensive budget research, and performed intensive background & fact finding work. Since there was tremendous enthusiasm & interest from the girls that they surveyed, a proposal was thoughtfully & meticulously prepared. The proposal was presented to the Bradford Area School Board by the committee in late 1999. Though the committee could not secure a team for the 2000-2001 school year, the school board committed to providing a girls soccer program for the 2001-2002 school year. Hats of to Mr. Scott Cavagnaro & the committee (Mark Goebl, Alicia Hill, Tony Doriguzzi) for all of their hard work & dedication!
